Do I have the proper amount in an emergency fund?

Generally speaking, an emergency fund should be enough to cover a couple of months living expenses plus an allowance if something major breaks or needs replacing (i.e. washing machine, fridge, motor vehicle parts, air-con units).

The idea of an emergency fund is to be able to fund these unexpected expenses without having to rely on borrowed funds.
